ABOUT ME
NICE TO MEET YOU
Hi everyone, my name is Kristen and I’m so happy you’re here! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m 25 years old and grew up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but recently moved out to Salt Lake City, Utah. I live out here with my boyfriend, Matt, and two cats, Cleo and Juniper.
So, why Utah? That seems to be the million dollar question I get when I tell people I moved here from Pennsylvania. Well, my dad, step mom, and little sisters moved out here in 2019 for a job and every time I’ve visited, I’ve loved it. Do you ever get that feeling that you’re just meant to be somewhere? That’s exactly how I felt about Utah. When the first thing you see is a 360 view of the Rocky Mountains, it’s hard not to fall in love with the state. I think from the first time I visited, I knew that I would eventually end up here. Three years later and that’s exactly what happened.
I got my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2021 and just finished my Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology from Arizona State University. I’ve always been so curious about how the brain works and why people do what they do. I work for the State of Utah researching criminal records in their expungements department. Aside from work, I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing. I love reading about other people’s experiences and trips, and thought I’d share my own. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them!
What to Expect from my blog
My blog is a guide to all things hiking in Utah (and hopefully other states soon). From what trails to hike, when the best time is to go on certain trails, to my bucket list hikes, my goal is to share information about my favorite (and not-so-favorite) hikes around Utah. There is so much of Utah that I have not explored yet, and I really want to share all this beautiful state has to offer. Whether you live in Utah, or are just visiting, this is your place for all things hiking Utah.
In addition to sharing hikes, my goal is also to share ideas for places to camp, whether it be tent camping or taking a trailer/RV. My boyfriend and I own a hot tent, so we’ve been able to take it out in the winter time in addition to our normal spring/summer/fall camping trips. We also take trips with my parents, who have a trailer and always find the coolest spots. I’d love to bring you all along for the ride as we find new camping spots.
My goal for this blog is to share my personal experiences hiking and camping around Utah and other western U.S. states. Whenever I look for new hiking trails, I love researching the trails first, through blogs and reviews. I hope to be that place others can go to find information about a trail they’ve been wanting to hike, or a new campsite they’ve wanted to check out. I’m so excited to share all my adventures with you all!
